About this test
A 20-item self-report quiz that maps your values, aesthetic and pace to one of four cultural eras: the slow-ritual 1950s, the free-spirit 1970s, the indie-irony 1990s, or the fluid, forward-facing 2020s and beyond. Each era is measured by 5 items on a 5-point Likert scale. It's a playful identity quiz — and a quick mirror on which decade your taste actually belongs to.
Methodology
20 self-report items (5 per era) on a 5-point Likert scale. The four eras are cultural archetypes (1950s, 1970s, 1990s, 2020s+) selected for their distinctive pace, aesthetic and values. This is an entertainment-grade quiz, not a validated psychometric instrument.
Possible archetypes
- 1950s · Hand-letter soul
- You've set the table with the good cutlery for a Tuesday. Twice.
About: 1950s
Your era is the 1950s. You value rituals, things made to last and a slower rhythm than the present. You'd trade some convenience for craft and formality. You're not nostalgic for everything about the era — but its pace and care speak to you in a way the 2020s rarely do.
- 1970s · Suede-and-vinyl soul
- You ask 'but who decided that?' at every job. They're sick of you.
About: 1970s
Your era is the 1970s. You're drawn to freedom, art that changes a culture, and a personal style that leans warm, earthy or bohemian. You question authority almost automatically and follow your own path more than the standard mould. Your strengths are originality and warmth — the risk is romanticising rebellion as a personality.
- 1990s · Laid-back forever
- You miss the dial-up modem sound. You weren't even there for it. Doesn't matter.
About: 1990s
Your era is the 1990s. You love irony, indie sensibility and a slightly slacker aesthetic. There's something you genuinely miss about the pre-smartphone internet, and you find your people through niche taste — music, films, references. The good part is taste; the risk is treating "before it was cool" as the highest compliment.
- 2020s+ · Born-online native
- You learned three apps this month. You'll forget two. The third is you now.
About: 2020s+
Your era is the 2020s and beyond. You're fluent across apps, tools and trends, comfortable being yourself in public (online included) and you treat mental health, identity and boundaries as things worth talking about openly. You see the world more in terms of what's coming than what was. The good part is fluency; the risk is being so present-tense you skip the depth of older eras.
