About this test

A 24-item self-report quiz that maps you to one of six spending archetypes inspired by published "money script" research (Klontz et al. 2011): Saver, Spender, Investor, Status Buyer, Giver and Money Avoider. Each archetype is measured by 4 items on a 5-point Likert scale. The point isn't to grade you — it's to surface your underlying script so you (and your partner) can see why money feels the way it does.

Methodology

24 self-report items (4 per archetype) on a 5-point Likert scale. Inspired by published "money script" research (Klontz, Britt, Mentzer & Klontz 2011) — the six-archetype framing is a synthesis, not a single official instrument.

Possible archetypes

Saver · Pure cushion mode
You'd rather skip dinner than break your savings rule. We both know it.
Spender · Pure now-mode

Investor · Decade-vision mode
You explained compound interest at a party once. We both know it.
Status Buyer · Brand-loyal mode
You'd skip groceries for a piece you've eyed for months. Lo sabemos.
Giver · Pure care-mode
You grabbed the bill before anyone could fight you for it. Lo sabemos.
Money Avoider · Bank-app allergy
You haven't checked your balance and you're proud and scared. We both know it.

FAQ + disclaimer
Is this a real psychological framework?

It's inspired by published research on "money scripts" by Klontz, Britt and others (2011). The six-archetype framing is an accessible synthesis, not a single official instrument.

How is it scored?

Four items per archetype, rated on a 5-point Likert scale. Your highest-scoring archetype across the six types is reported as your dominant money type.

Can I share with my partner?

Yes — that's one of the most useful things to do with this. Two compatible types still benefit from naming the differences out loud.

How long does it take?

About 5 minutes — 24 short statements.
