Openness to Experience

Openness to Experience is one of the five Big Five personality traits. It captures intellectual curiosity, interest in art and ideas, and willingness to engage with the unfamiliar.

High-Openness individuals notice patterns others miss and are drawn to variety; low-Openness individuals prefer what is familiar and proven. Openness correlates with creative output, academic interest breadth and political liberalism. It is the Big Five trait most stable across adulthood (it declines only slightly with age).
