Big Five personality model

Neuroticism (Emotional Reactivity)

Neuroticism is the Big Five trait measuring intensity of negative emotion — anxiety, self-doubt, reactivity to stress. It is now often called "Emotional Reactivity" in non-clinical contexts.

High Neuroticism is a sensitivity, not a disorder. It correlates with richer inner life and creative output, but also with rumination and mood-disorder vulnerability. It tends to decline gradually with age.
